Data collected
"Required" means you can't use Minkee without it. "Optional" means you choose whether to provide it. None of this data is processed only ephemerally — it's stored so the app can work — and none of it is used for advertising or analytics.

Data not collected
The app does not collect: precise location; phone number; physical address; race or ethnicity; financial or payment information; health or fitness data; emails or SMS; videos; audio other than voice messages you choose to send; music files; files and documents; calendar events; contacts; web browsing history; installed apps; in-app search history; crash logs; or advertising ID.
Data shared
None, as defined by Google Play. Our hosting provider, Appwrite, stores and processes data on our behalf as a service provider, which Google Play doesn't count as sharing. Other members see the profile information you choose to show — that's how a dating app works. When you share a date safety plan or your Minkee ID using your phone's share sheet, it goes only where you choose to send it.
For full transparency: if you sign in with Google, Google handles your sign-in; and to show your city, the app uses your phone's built-in geocoding service (on most phones provided by Google), which receives your rounded coordinates or the place name you search for in travel mode.
App permissions

That's all. The app doesn't request precise location, background location, camera, contacts, storage, phone or notification permissions. Photos are chosen with Android's photo picker, and verification selfies are taken with your phone's own camera app.
SDKs and services in the app
- Appwrite Android SDK — connects the app to our backend (accounts, database, file storage, live chat updates). Data goes only to our own Appwrite project.
- Android Jetpack libraries (Compose, Lifecycle, Activity, Core, SplashScreen) — Google's standard Android UI libraries. They run on your device and don't collect data.
There are no Firebase, Google Analytics, advertising, attribution, crash-reporting or social-media SDKs.
Security practices
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS.
- Uploaded files are stored encrypted and scanned for malware.
- Passwords are stored only in hashed form.
- Hidden photo metadata, including GPS location, is removed on your phone before upload.
- Verification selfies are viewed only by our review team and deleted after review.
- Access to personal data is limited to staff who need it.
- Messages are not end-to-end encrypted; moderators may review conversations that are reported.
Deleting your data
Delete your account in Profile › Settings › Account › Delete account, or request deletion on the delete account page if you can't use the app. Your profile is hidden immediately and all account data is deleted within 30 days, except limited safety and legal records, listed with their retention periods on that page.
